The concept of Readygrad started in a café in Melbourne in 2011 (although we could argue the idea was ignited years before that!). As peers in graduate employer world, we knew each other as graduate program managers, even competitors. We unanimously agreed that it was about time that there was a service to students where we could share this knowledge through practical and relevant coaching programs. So we pooled our experience and knowledge to offer a service to students, both directly and in partnership with universities, schools and colleges.
My career goal and ambition has been very similar for a long period of time – to help students get the job they want by having a relevant understanding, insight and skills of what an employer looks for.
Firstly, I am a graduate recruitment and development specialist – I have dedicated the majority of my professional life to designing and managing graduate programs. I love it. I have worked for a range of organisations including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and BP Australia and have worked in Australia and the UK.
Born in Perth, I moved to Melbourne in 2001 to help set up a recruitment team for a large Australian mining organisation. It was about that time that I ‘fell in to’ graduate recruitment – and I’ve never left. In my opinion, it provides the most interesting, diverse and multi-skilled career there is. I love to think in practical ways, keep on top of new innovations and build strong and sustainable relationships – while having a laugh along the way. Ultimately, to help set up students’ careers from the very beginning and see their careers progress and develop is why I do what I do.
